Non-NYMS event: community fungi potluck picnic in Prospect Park

NYMS member Spencer "Zeke" Depas is organizing a fungi potluck and picnic in Prospect Park on June 22 from 12.30 to 4pm

Event Description:

This is an event to just hang out and enjoy each others company with some good shared food. We hope you can make it.

Join us for a delightful afternoon at the Community Fungi Potluck Picnic, a unique celebration of nature's marvelous mushrooms! Whether you're a seasoned mycophile or just curious about the world of fungi, this event is perfect for you. Bring your favorite mushroom-based dish to share and discover a variety of delicious and creative recipes from your neighbors.

Highlights:

Mushroom Feast: Sample an array of delectable mushroom dishes prepared by fellow community members. From savory soups and stews to creative appetizers and mouthwatering main courses, there's something for everyone.
Games: I will bring a kite we need a frisbee.
Foraging Walk: Join our local expert for a guided foraging walk and learn about the different types of mushrooms that grow in our area. Discover how to identify edible varieties and understand their ecological importance.
Family Fun: Engage in fun, fungi-themed activities for all ages, including mushroom crafts, face painting, and a mushroom identification game.

What to Bring:

A mushroom-based dish to share
Your own picnic blanket or lawn chairs
Kites, frisbees and other fun toys
Reusable plates, utensils, and cups to help us reduce waste
A curious mind and a love for nature

This event is free and open to all community members. We encourage everyone to participate, whether you bring a dish or just come to enjoy the festivities and learn about fungi. Let's come together to celebrate the wonderful world of mushrooms and the joy of community!
