Welcome our new club archivist, Andrew Cannon

With Tom Bigelow, the club’s current archivist, moving to Maine we were looking for a new archivist.

We are delighted to announce that Andrew Cannon will step up to take over the role.

Andrew has been a long-standing and very active member of the New York Mycological Society, with a strong sense of its history, and a deep understanding of the history of mycology and role of mycological societies within it. An artist himself, he also has and extensive history working with artists’ archives, especially scanning and touching up ephemera for storage and print. He has worked with archivists, and has fulfilled many of the same duties in his day job over the years. Importantly, given the physical size of the archive and our need to digitize it, he has the space to house it and a scanner to scan it.

We were overwhelmed with the number of highly qualified applicants – a big thank you to all of you.! Many of you have offered to help with the indexing, digitization and uploading of the archive and we’ll gratefully accept your help when the time comes.
