Welcome our new club archivist, Andrew Cannon
August 14, 2024Our club has a long and storied past, going back all the way to our founding by avantgarde composer John Cage, artist Lois Long and their circle. Over the last 62 years we have accumulated an archive of fascinating documents – newsletters, correspondence, walk lists, lectures and much more.
Tom Bigelow has been our archivist for the last few years, taking over from Ralph Cox at his passing.
With Tom’s move to Maine we are now looking for a new archivist.
The job involves housing several boxes of documents, though if that is not possible, we can also discuss a commercial storage space.
The most important part of the job will be to make the most interesting contents of the archive available to our members and the world digitally, on our website. This would involve curation and digitization.
If you are an amateur historian, archivist or digitizer of documents this would be a great job for you. We hope that the right candidate will be able to hold this position for several years.
Please reach out to president@newyorkmyc.org if you are interested or have questions.
