September 23, 2024Thank you/Gracias Sol Aramendi and Taller del Bosque Migrante!
September 24, 2024After four years with no Peck Forays, it’s back!
This year’s Peck Foray host is Dr. Patricia Kaishian, curator of Mycology at the New York State Museum, who’ll host the foray at the Huyck Preserve near Albany NY, October 4–6 2024.
On 1 PM on Friday, October 4th, Patty will also be hosting a tour of the Peck Collection at the New York State Museum. All participants are invited to join the tour before heading to the preserve. Otherwise, attendees are free to arrive at the preserve anytime after 4pm. Dinner will be served on Friday night, followed by an evening talk. Saturday will be dedicated to collecting and identification, and food will be provided throughout the day. Sunday morning will be for organizing specimens, packing up, cleaning and a departure by noon. The exact cost is TBD, and they are striving to keep this under $200, while also providing a discounted price for students.

The Peck Foray unites lovers of mushrooms and other fungi for a Fall weekend of collecting and identification. It’s been hosted since 1954 by a different volunteer host (almost) every Fall, usually somewhere in New York. Dr. Kathie T. Hodge (Cornell University) is the Peck Coordinator.
The Peck Foray is open to all who are interested in fungi. Attendees traditionally include professors and their students, talented nonprofessional mycologists, and curious amateurs. There is typically no formal education program, only the joint collecting and sharing of interesting mushrooms and other fungi, and an intriguing evening lecture Saturday night.
