Please prepare appropriately. And as always, if the forecast changes for the very bad, we might shift the walk to a different day or cancel it. As of the week of this walk, it looks like there is no significant rain forecast for Saturday. However, please monitor your email for event scheduling changes. In view of the recent dry weather in the region, members should anticipate fairly unproductive conditions on the ground.
Guest lecturer the photographer Alison Pollack will be on this walk looking for tiny ascos and slime molds and is willing to do a demo of her process on the walk.
Bring paper bags for collecting specimens, a hand lens, a knife, a tackle box (optional), water and a lunch.
We highly recommend using the iNaturalist app (IOS, Android) to document the fungi you find. Find out how to use it here.
If you’ve never been on a mushroom walk with us before, here is what to expect.
Ticks and mosquitos are common in this park so you will want to be prepared for those as well.
