Join us for a walk in Pelham Bay Park, Bronx this Saturday, March 14th.
Pelham Bay Park is a little difficult to get to, but a very pleasant walk. The woods have oak, hickory, black locust, cherry, tulip poplars, and a few birches. There’s even a stand of pines and, if there’s time for a minor detour, some Norway spruce. Of course there’s also wetlands and nearby Orchard Beach.
Bring paper bags for collecting specimens, a hand lens, a knife, a tackle box (optional), water and a lunch. The club is fairly all-weather, but if the forecast takes a particularly nasty turn, we will cancel this walk or shift it to another day. Please monitor your email in case we do.
We highly recommend using the iNaturalist app (IOS, Android) to document the fungi you find. Find out how to use it here.
If you’ve never been on a mushroom walk with us before, here is what to expect.
