Due to the stubbornly unmelted snow and ice in Staten Island parks, our pop-up walk in Clove Lakes is cancelled.
Join us for a walk in Clove Lakes Park, Staten Island this Sunday, March 1st.
There is a considerable amount of snow remaining in our parks right now (Wednesday PM), but the temperatures forecast for the coming days suggest that enough of it may be gone by Sunday so that a pop-up walk will be feasible. If this turns out not to be the case, we will cancel this walk, so please monitor your email. (If a cancellation is in the offing you will hear about it by Saturday late afternoon.)
Bring paper bags for collecting specimens, a hand lens, a knife, a tackle box (optional), water and a lunch. The club is fairly all-weather, but if the forecast takes a particularly nasty turn, we will cancel this walk or shift it to another day. Please monitor your email in case we do.
We highly recommend using the iNaturalist app (IOS, Android) to document the fungi you find. Find out how to use it here.
If you’ve never been on a mushroom walk with us before, here is what to expect.
