Our February 2025 reading will be of Finding the Mother Tree by Suzanne Simard. Many of you have read it, some of you have not, but we’ve yet to discuss it in our book club so the time is ripe to revisit this now somewhat controversial “classic.” We are delighted to have member Amy Plattsmier lead this discussion. You are encouraged to read the book in its entirety but our 2/12 discussion will focus on the fungal-centric Chapter 3, “Parched.”
What: Finding the Mother Tree by Suzanne Simard (buy it locally and support independent booksellers!)
When: Wed 2/12 (6:30-8:30pm)
Where: Manhattan – NYMS member apartment (address emailed to confirmed RSVPs)
Before our meeting, be sure to check out Justine Karst’s 2023 NYMS lecture which provides a valuable perspective to enrich our discussion.
Please email Maya Han at culture@newyorkmyc.org to RSVP.
