May 11, 2026This year the COMA foray will be at Berkshire Hills Eisenberg Camp in Copake, NY. (Friday, September 4th to Monday, September 7th) The comfortable overnight accommodations (within easy driving distance from anywhere in our area) are similar to those of a motel. All guest rooms have A/C units and their own private bathroom & shower. The home-cooked meals (the camp can accommodate most special diets), and all-day access to the heated pool make this facility unique. There will be a limited number of single-person rooms available, and these will be assigned on a “first come, first served” basis. (Please see the registration link for details.) There will also be a few rooms that can sleep 3 (or even 4 people) in “family-style” lodging. (We are pleased to pass along a discount for children 12 and under.) Please let us know if you are interested in the family rooms and/or the children’s discounted rates. (email twightcoma@gmail.com) We will have an outstanding roster of invited mycologists and expert identifiers on hand, and foraging on the 460-acre premises and the surround parks has been reliably excellent.
The 4-day registration fee includes 3 nights’ lodging and 8 meals, from dinner on Friday to breakfast on Monday. You may register for whichever days/nights suit your schedule; full details will be on the registration form. (Please note that breakfast is not included on your day of arrival.) Please bring your lunch on Friday. All rooms will be double occupancy, unless otherwise indicated. If you do not have a roommate chosen, we will select one for you. Activities include swimming (in-ground heated pool), Saturday & Sunday excursions to local parks, afternoon and evening presentations, and “social hour” (drinks, snacks, music) after evening programs. (Donations of nature books and mushroom memorabilia for our famous Sunday evening auction are appreciated.) We usually identify upwards of 400 species of mushrooms by the end of the event!
You may register for the “full” foray, 3 days, 2 days, or even a single day. The Clark Rogerson Foray is well known throughout the region, not only as a great learning experience, it’s also such wonderful fun that we’ve been doing it for 46 years! For the past several years, this event has filled up quickly, so we strongly advise reserving a spot ASAP. (Go to https://www.comafungi.org/clark-rogerson-foray/) This is the “Crown Jewel” of COMA’s yearly activities. It’s the best possible way to increase your mycological knowledge and have a tremendous amount of fun while doing it!
