Join us for a walk in Pelham Bay Park, Bronx this Sunday, May 31st.
Pelham Bay Park is a little difficult to get to, but this beautiful walk and accompanying lunch spot with a view are surely worth the effort. With the recent rain, we should have a fruitful walk. On our last visit in March, one of our members found a new to the city lichen, Peltigera didactyla aka the Alternating Dog Lichen.
*Note: Beach season has started and the parking will be $12 per car. Kindly contribute $3-$4 dollars to your carpool driver (depending on car capacity) to cover the cost.
Bring paper bags for collecting specimens, a hand lens, a knife, a tackle box (optional), water and a lunch. The club is fairly all-weather, but if the forecast takes a particularly nasty turn, we will cancel this walk or shift it to another day. Please monitor your email in case we do.
We highly recommend using the iNaturalist app (IOS, Android) to document the fungi you find. Find out how to use it here.
If you’ve never been on a mushroom walk with us before, here is what to expect.
