Join us for a walk in Cunningham Park, Bronx this Sunday, November 24th!
Bring paper bags for collecting specimens, a hand lens, a knife, a tackle box (optional), water and a lunch. It has been very dry for over a month, but there is some rain forecast for this week. This may produce ascomycetes and jellies, but other mushrooms will probably need more time to develop after our first rains since August. We will concentrate our efforts on downed wood and some of the vernal pool areas of the park that retain moisture in dry weather.
We highly recommend using the iNaturalist app (IOS, Android) to document the fungi you find. Find out how to use it here.
If you’ve never been on a mushroom walk with us before, here is what to expect.
