The verdant havens of cemeteries can be particularly rich spots for fungal discovery but if Green Wood and Woodlawn are too far for you to trek, visit The Evergreens Cemetery! This gorgeous hidden gem on the border of Bushwick Brooklyn and Ridgewood Queens dates back to 1849 and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
We are pleased to announce our inaugural event with this new cultural partner on Sunday June 7th, 12-2PM. (Forecast is sunny and hot so, while we will mostly be in the shade, bring water + sunscreen!)
When: Sun. 6/7, 12-2PM (mushroom walk is 1-2PM)
Where: The Evergreens Cemetery, 1629 Bushwick Avenue, Brooklyn, N.Y. 11207 (close to L, J, Z, A, C trains)
FREE EVENT – all are welcome! More info here. Please note: the walk is sold out but you are still welcome to stop by and check out our fungal specimen table, learn the basics of mycology, or just explore the beautiful grounds!
Walk and ID table co-led by Wilton Rao, Thursday Azul Silverman, Morgan Yacullo, and Maya Han.
Email NYMS Cultural Programmer Maya Han at culture@newyorkmyc.org if questions.
