SUMMARY:Wawayanda State Park\, Passaic Co.\, NJ - Saturday\, September 12th
DESCRIPTION:Join us for a walk in Wawayanda State Park\, Passaic Co.\, NJ – Saturday\, September 12th \nEntomopathogenic fungi which infect insects can frequently be found on the undersides of Rhododendron leaves along forest trails. There are many Rhododendrons in Wawayanda. On last year’s Wawayanda walk we found a Gibellula sp.\, a genus that infects spiders\, consuming them from the inside and causing them to leave their webs and die in exposed locations allowing the fungus to spread its spores. \nBring paper bags for collecting specimens\, a hand lens\, a knife\, a tackle box (optional)\, water and a lunch. The club is fairly all-weather\, but if the forecast takes a particularly nasty turn\, we will cancel this walk. Please monitor your email in case we do. \nWe highly recommend using the iNaturalist app (IOS\, Android) to document the fungi you find.
