SUMMARY:Come join us for an online ID meeting this Monday\, April 6
DESCRIPTION:Next Monday’s ID meeting will be online. Share anything you have found recently\, or share older observations for which you haven’t gotten a species ID. Show off mushrooms from your travels\, nearby or abroad. Share your ID triumphs and tribulations. Show your dots on sticks\, jellies\, and crusts. In person ID sessions will begin again later in the spring. \nCome share what you’ve found\, see what others have found or to ask more general questions about anything fungi-related. \nAs always\, we encourage you to use iNaturalist to share your observations – it’s a great way to keep track of your finds\, and you will be able to participate in these two NYMS projects: \n\nFungi of New York City\nFungi Beyond New York City\nSlime Molds of New York City\n\nIf you’re not using iNaturalist\, try to have images on your computer that you can share. \nEither way\, it’s important to document your finds with clear pictures\, showing details of cap\, underside and stem\, and to note the habitat \nAll members are welcome to join – especially new members! We will try to make it as easy as possible for everyone and are eager to assist\, so please don’t hesitate to get in touch if you have any questions.

SUMMARY:NYMS pop-up walk\, Cunningham Park\, Queens\, Sunday\, April 12th
DESCRIPTION:Join us for a walk in Cunningham Park\, Queens this Sunday\, April 12th. \nIn the spring we eagerly await the arrival of morels. They’re not here yet. But the false morels\, which usually arrive earlier\, could be here this weekend. The false morels\, or if you prefer a less disparaging name\, the Lorchels\, have recently undergone a rigorous study and reorganization. So the species we used to know as Gyromitra korfii\, is now in a new genus Maublancomyces. M. korfii has been found on three previous occasions in NYC. In 2017 it was found in Cunningham Park. \nBring paper bags for collecting specimens\, a hand lens\, a knife\, a tackle box (optional)\, water and a lunch. The club is fairly all-weather\, but if the forecast takes a particularly nasty turn\, we will cancel this walk or shift it to another day. Please monitor your email in case we do. \nWe highly recommend using the iNaturalist app (IOS\, Android) to document the fungi you find. Find out how to use it here. \nIf you’ve never been on a mushroom walk with us before\, here is what to expect. \nThe event details are only viewable to active members who are logged into the website. To view details of the event\, please use the login form in the left sidebar. \n\nWe look forward to seeing you at the walk!
