DESCRIPTION:Next Monday’s ID meeting will be  online. \nCome share what you’ve found\, see what others \nhave found or to ask more general questions about anything fungi-related.\nAs always\, we encourage you to use iNaturalist to share your observations – it’s a great way to keep track of your finds\, and you will be able to participate in these two NYMS projects: \n\nFungi of New York City\nFungi Beyond New York City\nSlime Molds of New York City\n\nIf you’re not using iNaturalist\, try to have images on your computer that you can share. \nEither way\, it’s important to document your finds with clear pictures\, showing details of cap\, underside and stem\, and to note the habitat \nAll members are welcome to join – especially new members! We will try to make it as easy as possible for everyone and are eager to assist\, so please don’t hesitate to get in touch if you have any questions.

SUMMARY:NYMS pop-up walk\, Cunningham Park\, Queens\, Saturday\, November 15th
DESCRIPTION:Join us for a walk in Cunningham Park\, Queens this Saturday\, November 15th. \nOur pre-scheduled walk season has ended and\, as the weather turns cooler\, it is time for “stick season” pop-up walks. Pop-up walks are usually announced no later than Thursday on our website (sometimes earlier there) and in the emails you receive Thursday morning (such as this one). The NYMS has visited Cunningham Park in November on six previous occasions. The first November visit was in 2013. The discomycete changeling Chlorosplenium chlora was first recorded for Cunningham on that walk. On iNaturalist\, Chlorosplenium chlora has not been given a common name. I propose the a campaign to popularize the Changeling Cup. But why? Find out why on Saturday. \nBring paper bags for collecting specimens\, a hand lens\, a knife\, a tackle box (optional)\, water and a lunch. The club is fairly all-weather\, but if the forecast takes a particularly nasty turn\, we will cancel this walk or shift it to another day. Please monitor your email in case we do. \nWe highly recommend using the iNaturalist app (IOS\, Android) to document the fungi you find.
