SUMMARY:Come join us for an in-person ID meeting this Monday October 20th
DESCRIPTION:Our next ID meeting will take place on Monday\, October 20 from 6.30 to 8.30 at Elan Trybuch’s house. Attendees can\, of course\, arrive later and leave earlier. \nYou are welcome to bring whatever mushrooms and other fungi you have found. ID sessions are also a great opportunity to brush up your microscopy skills. Monday’s session will be equipped with both dissecting and compound scopes. You can practice making slide mounts with chemical stains. It might even be possible to get some practical experience with spore measurement under the microscope. \nThe address is:\nThe event details are only viewable to active members who are logged into the website. To view details of the event\, please use the login form in the left sidebar. \n \nPlease bring any interesting specimens regardless of whether you have identified them or not\, and check out what others have found. \nWe continue to encourage members to use iNaturalist – it’s a great way to keep track of your finds\, and you will be able to participate in these two NYMS projects: \n\nFungi of New York City\nFungi Beyond New York City\nSlime Molds of New York City.\n\nWe look forward to seeing you on Monday!

SUMMARY:Alley Pond Park\, Queens - Saturday\, October 25th
DESCRIPTION:Join us on Saturday\, October 25th in Alley Pond Park\, Queens. This area seems to have had the most rainfall in recent weeks\, and it often has marshy areas and microclimates that host fungi if you are willing to look for them. \nIn the event of a very bad weather forecast\, we may have to cancel this walk or shift it to another day. So please monitor your email before the walk in case we do. Bring paper bags for collecting specimens\, a hand lens\, a knife\, a tackle box (optional)\, water and a lunch. \nWe highly recommend using the iNaturalist app (IOS\, Android) to document the fungi you find. Find out how to use it here. \nIf you’ve never been on a mushroom walk with us before\, here is what to expect. \nBecause there are ticks and mosquitos at this location\, insect repellent is recommended.\nThe event details are only viewable to active members who are logged into the website. To view details of the event\, please use the login form in the left sidebar. \n \nWe look forward to seeing you there!
