DESCRIPTION:Next Monday’s ID meeting will take place from 6.30 to 8.30 at Paul Sadowski’s apartment in Chelsea\, Manhattan. \nAttendees can of course arrive later and leave earlier. \nPlease bring any interesting specimens regardless of whether you have identified them or not\, and check out what others have found. \nIn person ID meetings are a great way of developing your hands-on identification skills and dipping your toes into microscopy! \nThe address is 236 West 26th Street (between 7th and 8th Avenues)\, Manhattan. The buzzer is labelled Jordan Family 1101. Once in the lobby\, go to the last of the the three elevators\, the freight elevator\, Paul will then send the elevator up. \nClosest public transit are the 1 train (23rd & 28th Street stations)\, C and E trains (23rd Street Station) and M20 and M7 buses. \nWe encourage you to use iNaturalist – it’s a great way to keep track of your finds\, and you will be able to participate in these two NYMS projects: \n\nFungi of New York City.\nFungi Beyond New York City.\nSlime Molds of New York City.

SUMMARY:Hunter’s Island\, Pelham Bay Park\, Bronx - Sunday\, September 21st
DESCRIPTION:Pelham Bay Park is the largest park in the NYC park system. Though most NYers visit to enjoy Orchard Beach\, the woods of Hunter’s Island are a bucolic escape with fascinating fungi. One you might see on this walk is Hohenbuehelia mastrucata\, a mushroom known for its ability to kill and consume nematodes. \nBring paper bags for collecting specimens\, a hand lens\, a knife\, a tackle box\, water and a lunch.  \nWe highly recommend using the iNaturalist app (IOS\, Android) to document the fungi you find.
