SUMMARY:Come join us for an online ID meeting this Monday\, November 25
DESCRIPTION:Next Monday’s ID meeting will be happening online. \nCome share what you’ve found\, see what others have found or to ask more general questions about anything fungi-related. \nAs always\, we encourage you to use iNaturalist to share your observations – it’s a great way to keep track of your finds\, and you will be able to participate in these two NYMS projects: \n\nFungi of New York City\nFungi Beyond New York City\nSlime Molds of New York City\n\nIf you’re not using iNaturalist\, try to have images on your computer that you can share. \nEither way\, it’s important to document your finds with clear pictures\, showing details of cap\, underside and stem\, and to note the habitat \nAll members are welcome to join – especially new members! We will try to make it as easy as possible for everyone and are eager to assist\, so please don’t hesitate to get in touch if you have any questions.

SUMMARY:Learn how to grow mushrooms at Biotech without Borders!
DESCRIPTION:If you’ve been interested in learning how to grow mushrooms\, here is your opportunity to learn. NYMS partner Biotech without Borders has recently launched a workshop series on how to grow mushrooms via their Indoor Culinary Mushroom Cultivation Series. It’s an a la carte series which can be taken as one-offs to build a specific skill or all together to grow mushrooms start to finish. \n\n\nNovember 20 – Starter Culture\nNovember 26 – Culture Expansion\nDecember 4 – Fruiting Methods\nDecember 11 – Substrate Formulation & Inoculation\n\nThe Biotech Without Borders Myco Lab.\nThe BWB community biology lab has recently expanded\, tripling our available bench space for lab work. They’ve dedicated an entire section of the lab specifically for mycological research\, fully equipped with everything needed for mushroom cultivation\, myco-material experimentation\, and DNA barcoding of fungi. Our goal is to offer affordable lab access for everyone—ideal for beginners eager to develop mycological skills or even for early-stage startups needing space to launch their bio-designed products. Please visit https://biotechwithoutborders.org/ for more info on becoming a member.
