DESCRIPTION:Wednesday\, March 11th at 6:30pm at the Central Park Arsenal \nMyxomycetes: Slime-tastic fun-guys of the microbial world!\nWhat swims like a tadpole\, crawls like an amoeba\, and drops spores like a mushroom?  In this talk our very own Elan Trybuch will explore the slime mold lifecycle\, their taxonomic classification\, and their biodiversity across New York’s five boroughs. \nAbout our speaker: Elan is the Secretary of the New York Mycological Society and a Myxomycete specialist\, helping to identify species and document the biodiversity of Fungi and Myxomycetes in NYC. Under the moniker nyc.slime.patrol\, his high-resolution focus-stacked slime mold photography has dazzled many and even been featured by iNaturalist where he not only leads with the most myxo- observations in the city but also dutifully aids in matching IDs to other people’s sightings. He currently lives in Red Hook\, Brooklyn with his partner and works at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center as an Integration Engineering Manager. \nThe event details are only viewable to active members who are logged into the website.
