Crust fungi are diverse\, wood-decaying basidiomycetes that are frequently overlooked due to their inconspicuous form and underrepresentation in field guides and at the collection table. \nThis presentation examines crusts as a form group\, clarifying what is included—and excluded—while addressing taxonomy\, ecology\, and diagnostic hymenial features. Using field photography and herbarium records\, Emma will introduce practical identification groupings that will broaden your ideas of crusts and highlight unique species in the Northeast. \nAbout our speaker: \nEmma Richter is a Maine-based amateur mycologist and editor of the Maine Mycological Association’s Mainely Mushrooms.
