SUMMARY:Oct. 17 Drop in + Draw in Ridgewood: Observational Mushroom Drawing\, Toxic Edition
DESCRIPTION:Join us under the October Full Moon for Observational Mushroom Drawing: Toxic Edition\, taught by NYMS member and co-founder of NYC Nature Drawing Club Lindsay Robbins. This is a sliding scale ticketed drop-in-and-draw event. Purchase tickets here \n\nWe’ll provide all art materials\, and an assortment of fungi specimens foraged around NYC for direct observational drawing and scientific study. \n\nWe will focus on The American Eastern Jack-o’-Lantern mushroom\, a bright orange\, poisonous species that closely resembles the edible chanterelle\, which smells like apricots. In this workshop\, you’ll learn how to distinguish the two\, create art from direct observation\, and walk away with new knowledge\, artwork\, and connections. Bonus: this mushroom is bioluminescent\, meaning it glows in the dark! And did we mention? It’s a full moon!  \nWhen: Thursday\, October 17th (Full Moon)\nDrop-in-and-draw anytime between 7 PM – 10 PM\nWhere: Woodbine\, 585 Woodward Avenue\, Ridgewood\, Queens
