SUMMARY:Joan Heyding from the Ottawa club takes us through the new MycoQuebec website
DESCRIPTION:The MycoQuebec website has always been the best resource about North Eastern fungi\, but it just got a whole lot better. \n  \nNow ad-free it covers over 3\,500 species with almost 25\,000 images\, many of them of microscopic features. The new site also includes interactive keys and a great quiz feature with which to improve your mushroom knowledge. \n  \nNYMS member Joan Heyding from the Ottawa club has kindly taken us through the new site at a recent ID meeting. \n\nThe site is in French but most browsers have an auto-translate feature. Joan covers this in her introduction. \nWe also recommend the La Fonge app which can be bought for just over $20 on Android and iPhone app stores. It’s similarly comprehensive but not quite as up to date.

SUMMARY:An introduction to mycology with Paul Sadowski: What have we here?
DESCRIPTION:Please join us on June 27 at 7:30 PM for this year’s introduction to mycology: “What Have we Here?” This newbie-oriented class will prepare you for the summer season that is now upon us. \nAnd this talk will be followed by a field trip in Central Park’s North Woods on June 30 to help familiarize the newcomer with fungi in their environment. Details will be announced closer to the date. \nYour guide will Paul Sadowski\, longtime member of the NYMS and NYBG Instructor in seasonal mushrooms. The 1-1/2 hour talk will introduce the beginner to the biology\, anatomy and ecology of fungi. He’ll introduce a few of the usual suspects that pop up in our this time of the year. \nThe event details are only viewable to active members who are logged into the website.
