SUMMARY:Joan Heyding from the Ottawa club takes us through the new MycoQuebec website
DESCRIPTION:The MycoQuebec website has always been the best resource about North Eastern fungi\, but it just got a whole lot better. \n  \nNow ad-free it covers over 3\,500 species with almost 25\,000 images\, many of them of microscopic features. The new site also includes interactive keys and a great quiz feature with which to improve your mushroom knowledge. \n  \nNYMS member Joan Heyding from the Ottawa club has kindly taken us through the new site at a recent ID meeting. \n\nThe site is in French but most browsers have an auto-translate feature. Joan covers this in her introduction. \nWe also recommend the La Fonge app which can be bought for just over $20 on Android and iPhone app stores. It’s similarly comprehensive but not quite as up to date.

SUMMARY:NYC Nature Drawing Club meeting on June 23 at Randall's Island Urban farm
DESCRIPTION:NYC Nature Drawing Club was founded by two NYMS members a couple of years ago and is highly recommended to those interested in beginning to draw the fungi that are beginning to emerge. \nThe next meeting will be happening at Randall’s Island Urban Farm in New York\, NY 10035 on Sunday June 23rd\, 2024 1-3PM. \nThe meeting is FREE and open to everyone\, all ages. \nWe will gather together for open\, free-form nature drawing inspired by what is growing around us. Limited art materials provided. Tables and chairs available. No drawing experience necessary\, you can also just come and join us to sit in the garden or learn about the farm. What better place to enjoy the long light hours and warmth of Summer Solstice 2024. Everyone is welcome\, no need to RSVP- just come! \nRandall’s Island Urban Farm is an environmentally sustainable\, community-focused farm and outdoor classroom. Since its inception in 2006\, the Urban Farm has grown in size and scope\, featuring over 100 raised beds\, two greenhouses\, four rice paddies and a small tree orchard.  \nDIRECTIONS HERE (great bike ride) \n\nThe farm is open from 10am-3:30pm from April to September.
