SUMMARY:NYMS pop-up walk\, Prospect Park\, Brooklyn\, Saturday\, December 13th
DESCRIPTION:Join us for a walk in Prospect Park\, Brooklyn this Saturday\, December 13th.  \nProspect Park can be hit-or-miss. However\, it has delivered unexpected bounties in the past. I am thinking of a walk last June 28th when dry conditions cast a pall over our activities\, and yet remarkable fungi showed up to the delight of all who attended. Of course\, our present walk will be taking place in a colder season. So who knows what fungi await us.  \nThe leader for this winter walk will be current NYMS member\, but no longer a New Yorker\, Mical Moser\, who along with Sigrid Jakob\, launched our club’s first forays into DNA sequencing in 2017. Sigrid will assist. \nBring paper bags for collecting specimens\, a hand lens\, a knife\, a tackle box (optional)\, water and a lunch. The club is fairly all-weather\, but if the forecast takes a particularly nasty turn\, we will cancel this walk or shift it to another day. Please monitor your email in case we do. \nWe highly recommend using the iNaturalist app (IOS\, Android) to document the fungi you find.
