SUMMARY:NYMS pop-up walk\, Inwood Hill Park\, Manhattan\, Saturday\, November 29th
DESCRIPTION:Join us for a walk in Inwood Hill Park\, Manhattan this Saturday\, November 29th.  \nInwood Hill Park is host to about 400 species of mushrooms and other fungi. One that is not common in the park\, but that has been found there in November\, is Pholiotina rugosa\, a little brown mushroom that grows on the ground and contains α-amanitin\, the highly toxic compound that is also found in the most deadly species of Amanita mushrooms.   \nBring paper bags for collecting specimens\, a hand lens\, a knife\, a tackle box (optional)\, water and a lunch. The club is fairly all-weather\, but if the forecast takes a particularly nasty turn\, we will cancel this walk or shift it to another day. Please monitor your email in case we do. \nWe highly recommend using the iNaturalist app (IOS\, Android) to document the fungi you find.
