The last of our Emil Lang Lecture Series will take place on April 20 at 6:30 PM in Room 215 of the Foundation Building of The Cooper Union.
Roy Halling, Curator of Fungi at the New York Botanical Garden Herbarium, will deliver "Fungi Down Under: Sand, Gum Trees and Porcinis." He will talk about the state of knowledge of the macrofungi (fleshy mushrooms) of Australia, focusing on biogeography. Following this topic Halling will discuss The Macorfungi Collections Consortium, a country-wide effort at making macrofungal collections data available online.
Dr. Halling has studied fungi throughout the world; primarily focusing on Agaricales and Boletales. Much of his fieldwork has been supported by the National Science Foundation and the National Geographic Society. Roy has been a longtime presence at meetings of amateur and student mycologists.
