House Mushrooms!

Fungi NewsDennis Aita has posted an album of images showing mushrooms growing in unexpected places...Inside HOMES! I've had a mold or two in my day, but nothing quite like this. But apparently, it's not ALL that unusual, because the photos come from a few different sources.

But, as we all know, mushrooms grow in the most unexpected places. Take a look at the rest of these.

New Mushroom Magazine Launch

In the NewsBritt Bunyard, who you may know as the editor of McIvainea the NAMA journal, is among those who are launching a new magazine called Fungi.

It is a beautifully designed and printed journal that will cover all aspects of mycology. It looks like something that every amateur mycologist would enjoy.

Tom Volk In Town With the NYMS This Weekend!


TomWe have a special visitor to our area this weekend. Tom Volk, will be along for the walk at Stony Brook, Harriman State Park, Rockland Co., N.Y.

Meet in Sloatsburg at RR tracks one block from municipal building. Take N.J. Transit 9:14 Northeast Corridor train from Penn Station; transfer 9:23 at Secaucus Junction for Port Jervis line train which arrives Sloatsburg 10:12.


And on Monday, July 23, 6:30 PM we will hold the first of our Foul Weather Friends meetings at the Downtown Community Center, 120 Warren Street. The meeting will be held in the first room on the left, second door. (Our normal meeting room has been turned into Romper Room. If the Latin binomials have got you a little bonkers you can go in there and bounce off the padded walls for awhile!)


Bring your weekend collections, your microscope, your mushroom books, we'll pore over the collections with Dr. Volk for a delightfully educating session!
