Wolf's Pond Walk Species List 7/10/11

Clove Lakes Park 6/19/11 Species List

Fungi NewsWe had beautiful late Spring weather at Clove Lakes Park yesterday. A group that included Paul, Christine, Don, Sarah-David, Aaron, Ethan & Mack, Katie, Beverly, Damon, Jennifer & baby and Gary & Irene collected a diverse group of fungi in an area equivalent to only around one-fifth of the park. Well, maybe the baby didn't collect anything but adoring looks from the gathering.

RECIPE: Forest Cappuccino with Beefsteak Mushroom Croustades

NewsletterPLUSClub member Pam Kray sent in this link from a UK food site that includes a recipe for Fistulina hepatica (aka Beefsteak or Beef Liver fungus) as well an interesting "cappuccino" made from wild mushrooms.

And since this is a foreign publication that includes photos, I'll just add the obligatory note of caution--mushrooms gathered and eaten in other countries/regions may look like non-edible species here at home (and vice-versa).
